With an opening volley of, "Under current law, the DroneDefender may be used in the United States only by employees of the Federal government and its agencies, and use by others may be illegal", Battelle's new "directed-energy" ray gun is set to bring down errant drones over our skies. Finally! someone has developed a countermeasure to the persons who can't seem to behave themselves when they get a drone transmitter in their grubby little (Sorry, Donald) hands.
According to Battelle's website, the device, looking much like a Buck Rogers era space weapon is claimed to utilize a non-kinetic solution to defend airspace up to 400 meters against UAS, such as quadcopters and hexacopters, without compromising safety or risking collateral damage.

Innovative, cost-effective technology with multiple antennas, disruption electronics, Picatinny rail mount available and battery operated this baby is set to "neutralize the threat posed by unidentified UAS quickly and safely."
