If you watched any of the behind the scenes footage during the Olympics this year, you’ll know that a lot of the amazing shots the producers achieved – especially during the opening ceremony – were taken by drones. Right now, the use of drones for photography and videography is the most common applications of the technology, and quite possibly the most fun.

Mathias Haughom is a 17-year-old student from Norway who started taking video with his DJI Phantom 3 as a hobby. Obviously the kid has some natural talent because his “hobby” videos of the majestic Norwegian landscape have totaled over 50,000 views on YouTube.

You could say that Mathias is just lucky enough to live in one of the most beautiful countries in the world, but the lighting, angles, time of day, subject material, and editing that Mathias uses are all signs of a professional cinematographer with a high level of skill. There are lots of drone enthusiasts posting the videos they took with their DJI’s, and lots of them are pretty good. However, Mathias’s videos are on another level, one reserved for the best of the best in drone video.
